Get to Know Our Founder
I’m Floyd Grossett—a pastor, teacher, leadership coach, and lifelong student of what helps people become more honest, whole, and deeply rooted. I founded Wisdom Systems because I believe the way we think shapes the way we live, relate, and lead—and because meaningful change usually requires more than another good idea. It requires the courage to examine the inner architecture already shaping our choices, relationships, habits, and sense of purpose.
For nearly three decades, I have preached, taught, coached individuals, counseled couples, mentored staff, developed leaders, and guided churches and teams through complex seasons of growth and change. Along the way, I have equipped hundreds of leaders and volunteers, helped emerging leaders discover and strengthen their gifts, and walked with people navigating everything from organizational pressure to personal loss. That experience has convinced me that sustainable leadership is always an inside-out process. Skills matter. Strategy matters. But who we are becoming matters even more.
That conviction is at the heart of the Wise Leader Lab. I help leaders understand the internal patterns influencing how they respond to responsibility, conflict, uncertainty, success, and other people. Together, we strengthen self-awareness, emotional resilience, relational wisdom, spiritual depth, and the capacity to lead with clarity and integrity. The goal is not simply greater productivity or influence. It is becoming the kind of person whose leadership can remain healthy, grounded, and genuinely helpful over time.
The Wise Life Lab grows from the same foundation but begins with the whole person—not merely the leadership role. It is for people who feel stuck, stretched thin, disconnected from themselves, or ready to live with greater clarity, peace, strength, and intention. My approach brings together spiritual formation, emotional awareness, strengths-based development, honest reflection, and practical rhythms that can be carried into everyday life. I believe transformation is not about trying harder to become someone else. It begins by noticing what is happening within us, understanding what has shaped us, and learning to respond with wisdom, courage, trust, and grace.
This work is deeply personal to me. As a Black immigrant who came to the United States as a child, I learned early how to adapt, endure, and read a room. Later experiences of ministry, burnout, failure, loss, and profound grief taught me that competence can carry us only so far. We also need places where we can tell the truth, receive grace, recover what has been buried, and become more fully ourselves. I do not coach as someone who has mastered life. I coach as someone who has repeatedly discovered that wisdom often meets us in the very places we would prefer to avoid.
I have been married to Tamara since 1998 and am the proud father of Miles and Riley, whose life and memory remain woven into the person I am becoming. When I’m not teaching, coaching, writing, or connecting ideas that most people would have sensibly left in separate categories, I can usually be found riding a mountain bike, hiking, DJing, or taking specialty coffee far more seriously than any reasonable person should.
